Budget Wedding Photography

Planning a wedding can be pretty stressful, especially if you are working within a budget. However, being on a budget does not mean you should sacrifice great pictures. Budget wedding photography is possible. All you have to do is know where to look and how to talk when you are trying to save yourself some money on the vendors you want to use.

One thing to pay attention to when you’re selecting a photographer is side shadow – this is a dark, well defined shadow on the wall behind the main subject. It’s usually on the right of the image as that’s the way most people rotate the camera, but sometimes it’s below the subject if the camera’s held normally. This is caused by the photographer having the flash on the camera, pointed directly toward the subject, which generally makes for flat, boring light as well as the side shadow.

Budget wedding photography can be achieved by simply being honest with the company you want to hire to do your wedding shoots. Tell them up front how much you can spend on your wedding photography and see what they can do for you. After all, you chose them thus they should be accommodating to your needs. For example, if you are looking one of the packages that are slightly out of your price range but it is the package you really want, you could try to negotiate with the company.

Most wedding photographers get a lot of business by brides recommending the person or company who took their wedding pictures – the ones that don’t get word of mouth referrals are soon out of business. Still, you do want to spend the time to make sure you’re hiring someone who will work with you and for you.

Interview at least two or three photographers, paying close attention to both the person and the work. Ask to see one complete album — not a “best of” collection. To save on Photography, only keep your photographer until after speeches and dinner and a bit of the party, your friends and family will take dancing pictures etc. Heck, you can do a faux cake cutting before the actual cake cutting so you can have a pro picture of that, you can even do that with your 1st dance.

A professional photographer will be timely – arriving at your wedding promptly, and getting the results to you on time. A professional has just the right equipment, film and experience to handle most unforeseen circumstances for photographing your wedding. Having professional training, having attended many seminars, professional lectures and having photographed untold numbers of weddings, an experienced wedding photographer will be at ease at your wedding and can probably even offer advice on wedding topics you never thought of.

The other option you have is to do the photography yourself. This isn’t as hard as professional photographers would have you believe, there are a number of great resources out there to help you get started.
